2025: THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF AN EXCEPTIONAL HOUSE
This anniversary was an opportunity for us to revisit our history, explore our archives and delve into the daily lives of the House's first craftsmen.
From this immersion came the desire to recreate the models that the House has fashioned over the decades. This led to the idea of the collector's brush : emblematic pieces for each era, made with faithful respect for the techniques of yesteryear.
It was therefore natural that, to celebrate our 150th anniversary, we should inaugurate this collection with a first brush in homage to the founding year, 1875.
old-fashioned brushing
AROUND 1875, WOMEN FROM WEALTHY BACKGROUNDS ATTACHED AN ALMOST SYMBOLIC VALUE TO THEIR HAIR, SEEING IT AS A CLEAR SIGN OF PRESTIGE AND VITALITY.
At the time, brushing was an indispensable daily routine.
Every evening, a long session called "the hundred strokes of the brush" was recommended, using a carefully cleaned boar bristles brush. This ritual spread the scalp's natural oils all over the hair, keeping it dense, shiny and in good condition, while limiting any dandruff or lice. The brush was washed daily to prevent any build-up of dirt.
With such a meticulous routine, it was not uncommon for a woman to go several weeks, or even longer, without washing her hair while maintaining an impeccable, sometimes even highly refined appearance.
THE BRUSH OF A LIFETIME.
